About the Department of Mechatronics Engineering
The Department of Mechatronics Engineering was established at the College of Engineering - University of Basra in the academic year 2024-2025 to meet the emerging needs of mechatronics engineers and to keep pace with scientific and technical progress in the world.
Since its opening, the Department of Mechatronics Engineering has adopted a good academic program equal to mechatronics engineering departments around the world by focusing on the integrated theoretical and practical aspects in the field of mechatronics engineering study, where the practical aspect of the academic program is one-third of the total academic units in the teaching process and the curricula are constantly updated to keep pace with the progress taking place in the world.
The duration of undergraduate study in the department is four years, starting from the moment of receiving first-year students whose average grades qualify them to join the department, until the graduation of fourth-year students who obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechatronics Engineering.
The vision of the department:-
The department is to be a distinguished research and educational environment in its research, programs and educational curricula.
Department Mission:-
The department seeks excellence by preparing engineers in the field of mechatronics engineering to meet the requirements of the labor market, conducting theoretical and applied scientific research, and providing consulting and training services in the fields of mechatronics engineering to various sectors of society.
