This department was established in 1964. There are 40 professors in the teaching staff in different field of electrical engineering. Now, there are 500 undergraduate students and 59 post graduate students in the department. The department grants the graduate a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering sciences for initial studies, and it also awards master’s and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering specializations such as control, automation, communications, power, power electronics, computers, renewable energies and others.
The department has been known for its high scientific authenticity. It has provided the labor market with qualified engineers. The department tries hard to improve the student’s skills and scientific efficiency. The department also manufactures lab equipment’s in the automation field. That was an initiative from some the professors supported by the dean of the college. Some electrical tests are conducted in the department, like cables insolation test, circuit breakers test, and soil resistance.
