A master's thesis at the College of Engineering, University of Basra, is being discussed. Effect of Alloying Additions and Heat Treatments on the Microstructure and Mechanical Behavior of Press Hardening Steels (PHS)

The master's thesis of researcher Salwa Daham Abdul Redha was discussed at the College of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Basra, entitled: The effects of adding of the alloying element such as Cr, W, Ti, Mo and heat
treatments on microstructure and mechanical properties of press hardening steels
(PHS) were investigated. For this goal several steels with different chemical
composition will be prepared by casting and then exposed to different heat
treatments cycles. Effect of such alloying addition and heat treatment route on the
microstructure in press hardening steels (PHS) will be analyzed by optical
metallography, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron
microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The mechanical behavior of press
hardening steel (PHS) will be investigated by conducting mechanical test such as
microhardness.
