As part of the Science and Leadership Day celebration held by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research under the patronage and attendance of His Excellency the Minister, Professor Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, the Ministry honored the College of Engineering at the University of Basra in recognition of its outstanding scientific and research achievements. The college received two national awards in the fields of patents and scientific journals.

The college received the Outstanding Patent and Intellectual Property Award for its research titled
"Design and Construction of a Laminar Flow Meter for Mechanical Ventilation Systems During the COVID-19 Pandemic."
This award reflects the college's pioneering role in providing innovative engineering solutions that contribute to serving the community and developing health systems in Iraq.

The college also won the Outstanding Scientific Journal Award for the Iraqi Journal of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IJEEE), published by the College of Engineering at the University of Basra. This award was given in recognition of the quality of its published research, its solid scientific level, and its contribution to supporting scientific research and disseminating specialized academic knowledge.

This honor is a culmination of the efforts of the college's staff, who continue to achieve qualitative accomplishments that enhance the University of Basra's position among Iraqi and Arab universities in the fields of research, development, and innovation.
