The College of Engineering at the University of Basrah held a lecture entitled “Balancing Freedom of Belief and the Requirements of University Neutrality.”

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basrah, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Mufeed Turki Rashid, and with the follow-up of the Head of the Materials Engineering Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Mahdi Layth, the Human Rights Unit at the College of Engineering held the third lecture in its series of specialized lectures and seminars in the field of human rights.

The lecture, entitled “Balancing Freedom of Belief and the Requirements of University Neutrality,” was delivered by Lecturer Hussein Jassim Shatati. He addressed the legal and humanitarian frameworks for freedom of belief and the mechanisms for achieving a balance between this freedom and the necessity of maintaining a neutral university environment that respects diversity and ensures academic harmony.

The lecture also witnessed active participation from the attendees through questions and comments, which enriched the discussion and contributed to raising awareness of concepts related to human rights within educational institutions.

This event is part of the College of Engineering's efforts to consolidate human rights principles and spread legal and humanitarian culture among students and affiliates, contributing to building a university environment based on respect and pluralism.
