The College of Engineering at the University of Basra held a scientific seminar entitled “Legal and Judicial Confrontation with Extremism” to commemorate the International Day for Countering Violent Extremism. This event underscored the role of academic institutions in raising awareness and promoting a culture of moderation and the rule of law.
The seminar featured a presentation by Lecturer Hussein Jassim Shatei, who discussed the legal and legislative frameworks adopted to address the phenomenon of extremism. He also addressed the role of the judiciary in upholding the principles of justice and curbing the spread of extremist ideology, as well as the importance of integrating legal and judicial approaches in confronting various forms of extremism.
This seminar is part of the awareness-raising activities organized by the college, in line with its academic and community mission to instill the values of moderation, reject violence, and promote a culture of law within society.
