A faculty member from the College of Engineering, University of Basrah, participates in an academic research program entitled Hydrology Mini-PhD Program

Professor Dr. Ahmed Naseh Ahmed Hamdan, from the Department of Civil Engineering at the College of Engineering, participated in an academic research program entitled Hydrology Mini-PhD Program. This is a mini-PhD program in hydrology and sustainable water resource management.

This program is designed for undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students to equip them with the necessary skills to address water challenges (such as flood risks, water scarcity, and sustainable management strategies).

The training focuses on practical application and applied research, where students participate in a guided and practical research experience within an international team and with the support of expert mentors. The program includes free weekly training sessions and feedback and evaluation sessions. It also includes learning scientific research skills, workshops, practical assignments, and working on a real research project. Furthermore, it involves working with researchers from various countries and institutions. The program also covers how to present research results at international conferences and how to publish in reputable, indexed scientific journals under the supervision of experts. The supervisors of this program are academics and specialists in the fields of hydraulic engineering, water resources management, hydrology, civil engineering, and environmental engineering from around the world.

The participants are undergraduate or graduate students in the aforementioned disciplines.

The main objectives of this program are to expand research networks and contribute to building academic capacity, gain experience in leadership and project management, work alongside researchers from different institutions and countries, learn how to publish research papers in indexed journals, participate in international conferences, and obtain certificates of recognition.
