A doctoral thesis at the University of Basrah discussing (improving the performance of an evacuated-tube solar collector with a heat pipe)

A PhD thesis at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah discussing (Improving the performance of an evacuated tube solar collector with a heat pipe using two types of phase-changing materials in two different locations).

The thesis presented by the student Mohammed Jassim Saleh Al-Shukry dealt with a practical and numerical study of the effect of integrating two types of phase-changing materials in the complex.

Evacuated tube with heat tube in two different locations

The thesis was also included Practical study to improve the thermal conductivity of the two used thermal storage materials and evaluate the effect of their incorporation into the solar collector on the rate of heat transfer. The thesis aim to improve the performance of the evacuated tube solar collector equipped with a heat tube.

The thesis concluded that the solar collector equipped with two types of paraffin wax in both the evacuated tube and the two additional tanks gave the highest daily thermal efficiency.

The numerical results obtained from the MATLAB arithmetic model in the current study are in good agreement with the experimental results.
