a PhD thesis at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah discussing (Designing a smart electric power system based on the Energy Internet)

The thesis submitted by the student Bilal Naji Hussein dealt with a proposal for a new control technology for smart grids based on the Internet of Energy. The study proposes a controlled console using a consensus algorithm to drive smart grid generators (DGs) in the Energy Internet. This controller regulates voltage and frequency and facilitates sharing of active and passive power between generators. The proposed IoT allows monitoring of devices from a single platform to provide users with awareness of their energy consumption.

A control method for demand management in multiclient smart networks has also been proposed. The proposed method is based on alliance game theory based on consensus algorithm taking into consideration the effect of packet losses to get the optimal demand management system. To deal with the big data and information of the smart grid, it is transferred to the fog layer.

The thesis aims to propose a new control method to address the problems that occur due to electrical short circuits in smart mini grids. The proposed controller can handle the effects on voltage, frequency, effective power and reactive power.

The thesis concluded advanced smart control methods for the smart grid system that can work in the mode connected to the national network, or in the mode of disconnection from the national network.
