Master's thesis at the University of Basrah discussing (modeling hydrodynamics and water quality of the Al-Hawizeh Marsh)

a master’s thesis at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah discussing (Modeling of Hydrodynamics and Water Quality of the Al-Hawizeh Marsh).
The dissertation presented by the student Ali Kadhum Salman dealt with Hawr Al-Hawizeh in southeastern Iraq as a case study in two parts.
The first part is related to the assessment of water quality in the Al-Hawizeh Marsh during the month of November 2020. To assess the quality of
Water, 54 samples of data were collected from different locations within the marshes during the month of November
2020. Geographical Information System (GIS) was used for the purpose of mapping showing the distribution and spread of
water quality standards. It was completed
The use of two standards in the assessment, namely, the Iraqi water quality standard (IQS No. 417 of 2009) and the standard of an organization
World Health (WHO 2011) for drinking, irrigation and aquatic life. .
The second part is related to the construction of a hydrodynamic model to make a numerical simulation of the hydrodynamic patterns in Hor
Al-Hawizeh during the flood period in April 2019. For this purpose, average drainage feeders and hurr outlets were selected
Al-Hawizeh during the flood period (April 2019); This was recorded by the Marshlands and Lands Recovery Center (CRIMW).
The thesis aims to model the hydrodynamics and water quality in the Al-Hawizeh Marsh
The thesis concluded that the numerical simulation model is stable and has good convergence with the recorded data. This template built here is the best tool possible
Use it to help make appropriate decisions for the best management of this swamp. The researcher recommended that it is preferable to have the proposed facilities
(turtles) during the flood period to maintain a reasonable level of water inside the marshes. Thus, the environment and diversity will be preserved
Biology in the Hawizeh Marshes.
