University of Basrah organizes an engineering workshop (assessment of liners used in drilling)

The College of Engineering at the University of Basrah organized an engineering workshop in cooperation with the International Oil Services Company Halliburton entitled (Evaluation of the liners used in drilling)

The workshop included the presentation of two programs specialized in oil well drilling engineering offered as a grant for oil engineering by Halliburton Oil Company. The first program is (Casing Seat), which is concerned with the initial design of the oil well, taking into account the layers and geological conditions in order to determine the depths of the linings of the well sections. The second program is (Stress Check), which is used to assess the stresses and loads that can be borne by the lining of each section in order to reach an optimal design for well linings at reasonable costs.

The workshop aims to use two of the oil programs granted by the company to support the oil department, which contributes to the development of the department's curricula that deals with real problems and their solutions in the Iraqi oil fields

The staff in the Petroleum Engineering Department added that the course outputs will be included in the oil well drilling engineering for the third and fourth stages, which contributes to increasing the university graduates’ knowledge of the oil market requirements.
