A master's thesis at the University of Basrah discusses (the effect of metallic carbides on the corrosion resistance of stainless steel AISI204 in different media)

I discussed a master's thesis at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah

The thesis entitled (The Effect of Metal Carbides on the Corrosion Resistance of AISI204 Stainless Steel in Different Media) included the investigation of the effect of the aging process on the stability of the microstructure, corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of AISI204 stainless steel. Time 24 and 48 hours

For the student,Mohamed Yaqoub Yousef

The thesis discussed the evaluation of the microscopic structure of the aged samples by scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction analysis. Electrochemical polarization test was used in 1M NAC1 saline solution, in addition to the weight loss method in different media (sea water, river water, soil, and wet environment). Microscopic analysis showed the deposition of carbide type M23C6 on The length and amount of grain boundaries tend to increase with increasing aging time and temperature

The results also showed that the weight loss due to the uniform wear and the corrosion current density were highly dependent on the aging time and temperature. Moreover, the negative current density showed a constant (independent) behavior with increasing temperature.
