A master's thesis at the University of Basrah discusses (a numerical study of mixed convection in a porous open cavity - a compound connected to a horizontal channel)

I discussed a master's thesis at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah

The thesis entitled (A numerical study of mixed convection in a porous open cavity - a compound connected to a horizontal channel) included the study of the double mixed convection inside an open cavity connected to a horizontal channel. The cavity consists of two layers, the porous layer at the bottom and the fluid layer at the top.

For student Ali Qassem Abdel Hassan

The thesis discussed that one of the side walls of the cavity is heated at a constant temperature with a high concentration, while the other walls of the cavity and channel are thermally insulated.

The two-dimensional equations were solved using the Komsol program, which is based on the finite element method

Brand number Pr=6.26, Darcy number Da=10-3, buoyancy ratio N=0.5 and Lewis number Le=20 were taken. The four determinants are Reynolds number Re=50-250, Richard Sonn number Ri(0.01-100), thickness of the porous layer. Hp=(6.26) and low interference

The results showed that the opposing case has a higher Nusselt number than the auxiliary case, which has a low Nusselt number. The percentage increase in the average Nusselt number between the opposing and auxiliary cases was 53.07% and 90.184% when the Reynolds numbers are 50 and 250, respectively, while When Richardson's number is equal to 100, the percentage increase of the average Nusselt number in the opposite case was 36.3% and 17.81% when the Reynolds numbers were 50 and 250, respectively.
