A teacher at the Faculty of Engineering participates in research in an international conference in Egypt.

The researcher and teaching professor Dr. Saleh Issa Khassaf at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah participated in a joint research in the Third International Conference on Building, Construction and the Environment, which was held in the Arab Republic of Egypt for the period from 23-25 October 2017. Fadel Abdul-Abbas Al-Abbadi in the completion of the research marked with “The relationship between the drainage coefficient and the depth of the erosion pit generated as a result of running over the compound structure of the submersible dam and under the gates.”

The Relationship between the Coefficient of Discharge and the Scour Hole Depth Generated due to the Combined Flow over and below gates

Khassaf stated: The research aims to find a non-dimensional relationship between the depth of erosion occurring in the erosion-capable floor at the back of the hydraulic installations installed from weirs and gates as a result of water flowing through them on the one hand and the drainage coefficient of the same structure on the other hand.
