Holding a workshop on (the role of universities in supporting the oil sector) at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah

The international workshop on (The Role of Universities in Supporting the Oil Sector) was held under the auspices of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Al Alami and the Ministry of Oil, in addition to a group of experts and academics from different countries, started the workshop by reciting the Noble Qur’an and Surat Al-Fatihah, in addition to the national anthem presented by a group of students of the College of Fine Arts.

The coordinator of the workshop, Dr. Alaa Abdul Razzaq Jassim, stated that the aim of the workshop is to gather academic and industrial experts from Iraq and neighboring countries for the purpose of providing experiences and opinions in the field of the role of universities in developing and supporting the petroleum sector, in addition to discussing the nature and quality of the academic qualifications required for graduates and academic experts by institutions. oil

In addition to presenting the vision of the Iraqi Ministry of Oil on this subject and presenting some experiences that linked academic institutions in Iraq and other countries participating in the workshop with oil institutions and the results achieved from these experiences

Professor Rabee’ Hashem Thajeel, Dean of the College of Engineering, explained that the scientific colleges in general and the College of Engineering in particular can be considered a link between the Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministries of Oil and Industry, indicating that developments in the fields of the oil and petrochemical industry and industry depend mainly on providing engineering and scientific cadres capable of managing this. The file is in line with market requirements, as the college administration has adopted a two-pronged vision, which is to prepare and qualify students of engineering departments in general and chemical engineering and petroleum engineering departments in particular, with scientific and technical capabilities that qualify them to work and develop the oil sector after their graduation. The college administration also works to provide and develop its laboratory and advisory services to the sector. Governmental and investment oil through laboratories for oil and chemical tests, in addition to laboratories for structural, mechanical and electrical tests.

Appreciation certificates were presented to researchers and participants in the workshop by Prof. Dr. Sajid Saad Hassan Al-Nour, Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Rabie Hashem Thajil.
