The College of Engineering discusses the stresses of concrete pillars in a seminar

The College of Engineering at the University of Basrah organized a seminar on stress analysis of concrete piles by finite element method for graduate student Riyad Razak Salem from the Department of Civil Engineering. Where the study included the analysis of the excavated piles of two sites in southern Iraq, the first is Three raw water tanks in Basrah refinery) and the other is ALNasiriya new oil depot).

Cases of different diameters and lengths of pillars were studied. And study its effect on the capacity of the excavated pillars. The shear stresses in the soil adjacent to the substrate surface along the substrate were calculated and compared with those calculated by analytical methods. Salem stated: The relationship between the maximum stresses to bear the end of the pile and the applied load and the distribution of shear stress along the length of the pile was presented for all cases in this study, and the results of FEM were slightly less than the field results.
