The College of Engineering at the University of Basrah holds a specialized workshop entitled (Investing academic competencies in supporting the national industry)

Under the auspices of the President of the University of Basrah, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, and the General Manager of the General Company for Southern Fertilizers Industry, Mr. Badie Abdullah Ahmed, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ramzy Salim Ali The College of Engineering held a specialized workshop entitled (Investing academic competencies in supporting the national industry).
The workshop dealt with two sessions, the first session was chaired by each of Eng. Marfa Kadhum Al-Asadi, Director of the Production Authority at the Basra Gas Company, Senior Chief Engineer Arkan Abdul Sattar, Director of the Production Department at the Basra Oil Company, Senior Chief Engineer Nadhum Khalif Kaim, Maintenance Manager at the General Company for the Southern Fertilizer Industry, where It included throwing a number of working papers by specialists in various industrial disciplines, including the distributed control system and the scientific outputs of the Department of Electrical Engineering, investing academic expertise at the University of Basrah to enhance training activity in the Southern General Company for Fertilizer Industry, the stages of cooperation between the College of Engineering and the General Company for Southern Fertilizer Industry and the requirements of partnership with the industrial, oil and service sectors
As for the second session, it was chaired by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Jassem Al-Asadi, Assistant President of Al-Maqel University, Eng. Nazem Mazban, Director of the Petrochemical Laboratory, Dr. Asaad Abdel-Sayed, Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, which also included a number of working papers, including fruitful cooperation that leads to an influential change, mechanisms of scientific cooperation between universities and industry , Designing a cathodic protection system for corrosion-prone equipment in the Southern Fertilizer Company, designing and implementing a system for controlling chemical additives for the cooling tower by the PLC programmable logic control unit, in addition to several axes, including the contributions and role of the University of Basrah in supporting the industrial sector, contracting requirements from international companies and ways to achieve them Future prospects for the fertilizer industry, industrial problems and cooperation mechanisms between the two parties, obstacles to cooperation between universities and factories of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals and other institutions. This sixth workshop aims to review an aspect of the academic efforts that contribute to the development of the national industry in Basra in particular and Iraq in general. Statement of the most important obstacles that restrict this path, as a result of which a set of recommendations will be submitted to the relevant authorities for the purpose of developing mechanisms and instructions that support the development of this cooperation between the two parties.
At the end of the workshop, appreciation certificates were distributed to the participants.
