A master's thesis at the University of Basrah discusses (evaluation of Iraqi brick houses exposed to seismic loads)

A master's thesis in the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah discussed (evaluation of Iraqi brick houses subject to seismic loads). Brick and divided into two phases. The first stage was a brick shear wall under an in-plane load. has been modeled And simulate this wall using ABAQUS. A non-linear general static analysis was used to validate the finite element model by comparing the ABAQUS analysis with the previous experimental experiment. The second step dealt with three types of three-dimensional house models consisting of one storey, , with regular and irregular dimensions, and subject to seismic load in directions x and 2. Non-linear dynamic analysis (time-dating) was used to verify the seismic effect on Iraqi houses. The aim of the thesis is to estimate and study the behavior of the Iraqi brick houses under the influence of the earthquake theoretically The thesis concludes that the analysis of the brick wall by ABAQUS program is reasonably close to the experimental results. For all the models, there is a rise in the three normal frequency values, while there is no clear trend of change in the values between the models in the different modes. It can be concluded that when the design is unified in both directions, the seismic load design will be identical for both directions in the square chart.
