The College of Engineering at the University of Basra received a delegation from UNICEF. The meeting was attended by the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Mufid Turki Rashid, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Munir Abdel Jalil Ismail, the Head of the Architectural Engineering Department, Dr. Hamid Hayab Samir, and Dr. Ali Kamel Marzouk. The meeting included discussion about... Mechanisms for joint cooperation between the college and the organization in the field of climate change and environmental sustainability. Discussions focused on the issue of educating children and the necessity of providing a suitable study environment for them and how to benefit from engineering expertise (especially architectural) in designing model schools that adopt sustainable environmental solutions and in accordance with approved international standards. In addition to adopting green architecture in school and university buildings.
The Dean of the College, Dr. Mufid Turki Rashid, expressed the College’s readiness to cooperate with UNICEF in this field to serve the local community of the city of Basra. He also stressed the College’s desire for future cooperation with them in other fields. The visit ended with an agreement to hold a meeting of specialists soon to discuss the details and the cooperation mechanism.
