The Student Activities Unit, College of Engineering, University of Basra, organized the College Dean’s Cup for five-a-side football for departmental students from the first stage, with the participation of (16) teams from college departments, with an individual split system. The opening match took place on Monday, March 4, 2024, at the College of Engineering Stadium.
The Student Activities Officer stated that the goal of organizing the tournament for the first stage is a way for social interaction among students in their first year at college in a safe environment that enables them to learn important social skills. He added that when participating in sports tournaments, they learn how to find solutions to the problems they face while playing, cooperate among themselves, and control feelings of frustration that they may encounter. These skills can be applied to all areas of future life.
