The President of the University of Basra granted a letter of thanks and appreciation to both Professor Dr. Ammar Abdul Shahid and Assistant Professor Dr. Adi Bashir Issa, lecturers in the College of Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering, in appreciation of their efforts in publishing a scientific research in cooperation with the University of Sussex in Britain in the journal entitled Iraqi Journal for Electrical and Electronic Engineering, which is one of the reputable scientific journals within Scopus containers and has a Cite Score = 2 entitled (Design and Implementation of a 3RRR Parallel Planar Robot)
The research includes the use of the geometric structure with three rotating joints to drive and analyze the inverse kinematic model of the 3RRR parallel planar robot. In the proposed design, three main variables are considered: the length of the 3RRR parallel planar robot joints, the positions of the platform base, and the geometry of the joint angles. Cayley-Minger and dual determinants are proposed to calculate these three variables to determine the final position of the platform and move certain objects according to certain desired paths. The proposed structure of the 3RRR parallel plane robot was simulated and different desired trajectories were tested to study the performance of the proposed robot. Moreover, the practical implementation of the proposed structure was accomplished to verify the validity of the design from a practical point of view. It is worth noting that this research was accomplished in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Zainab Ali Khalaf from the Department of Computer Science at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at our university and researcher Chris Gatton from the University of Sussex, UK. This work is considered an additional link in the chain of achievements of the College of Engineering that aims to develop the scientific and academic level of the college and raise the university's ranking in the global rankings.
