Within the framework of the scientific cooperation agreement concluded between the University of Basra and the University of Koya, the College of Engineering, University of Basra, Department of Architecture, in cooperation with the Department of Architecture, University of Koya, organized a workshop entitled (Documentation, Recording and Management of Local Heritage) which was held at the University of Koya in Erbil from October 27 to 30 in cooperation with the Department of Antiquities and Heritage in the Kurdistan Region and the (WMF) organization. The workshop included a training course for students and engineers for 3 days during which many lectures were given that emphasized the importance of heritage and how to preserve it, modern documentation methods and the use of technology, as it included a practical (field) application on one of the heritage buildings in the city of Koya, through which the participants learned how to document buildings using (photogrammetry) and prepare models.
The participation of the College of Engineering at the University of Basra was represented by a number of lecturers and a group of students in addition to a number of newly graduated engineers from the Department of Architecture, in addition to the participation of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Mufid Turki Rashid, and the Head of the Department of Architecture Engineering, Dr. Hamid Hayab Samir.
