The College of Engineering at the University of Basra opens the Non-Destructive Testing Laboratory

The College of Engineering opened the Non-Destructive Testing Laboratory, which represents a qualitative addition to the educational and research environment in the college. The laboratory aims to provide the latest technologies for conducting advanced tests that do not affect the safety of materials, which enhances the capabilities of applied education for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as researchers from inside and outside the college.
The laboratory includes many testing techniques such as acoustic emission technology, magnetic particle testing, ultrasonic defect testing, penetrating fluid testing, surface roughness testing, paint quality testing and other tests .
The laboratory allows accurate tests related to welding quality, paint efficiency and thermal conductivity, which directly contributes to improving students' understanding of applied engineering concepts. The laboratory also provides an opportunity for researchers to carry out their studies using modern equipment that keeps pace with global developments in this field.
In addition, the laboratory provides its services to external parties from companies and industrial institutions, which enhances the role of the college in serving society and industry. The laboratory enables these parties to benefit from academic expertise and advanced infrastructure to ensure the quality of products and materials used in various industries.
The opening of the laboratory comes as part of the college’s strategy to support innovation and scientific research, in addition to enhancing cooperation with the industrial sector in order to build bridges that contribute to achieving sustainable development.
