
The Department of Civil Engineering - College of Engineering at the University of Basra, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Saleh Issa Khasaf, organized a distinguished scientific visit for students of the fourth stage of the morning and evening studies to the Faw Grand Port project, in cooperation with the General Company for Iraqi Ports, represented by the Faw Grand Port Project Authority. On Thursday morning, February 27, six buses headed to transport more than 300 students and teachers to the city of Faw to see this vital project. They were received by site managers and a number of engineers in addition to the technical and media staff. A distinguished engineering program has been developed by the project management to enhance the practical side of future engineers. Where the first field tour was to identify the road linking the implementation and a length of 62 km and the problems faced by the implementation process in the conditions of weak soil in the city of Faw and engineering methods to overcome these problems. Then the students and teachers went to the second field tour, which is the container site, which is in the process of implementation, and the details were explained by the site manager, especially the method of improving the soil in withdrawing water by engineering methods implemented for the first time in Iraq projects and the obstacles that faced the uncle
