A joint scientific research paper was recently published by Dr. Mohammed Al-Tufan, Dr. Wissam Al-Awadi, and Dr. Ahmed Sakban from the Department of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering, University of Basra, in collaboration with researcher Dr. Sahad Khalqa from the University of South Carolina, USA. The paper is titled:
"Fuzzy Logic Index for Subsurface Utility Engineering (FLI-SUE)"
The research addresses the development of an intelligent engineering model based on fuzzy logic to assess the complexity of underground facilities and infrastructure, including water, gas, and electricity pipelines. This model aims to improve risk management and reduce implementation costs in engineering projects.
This research highlights the use of artificial intelligence through traditional fuzzy logic, combining classical engineering concepts with advanced modern technologies. This enhances the role of scientific research in advancing the horizons of smart civil engineering.
This achievement represents a new step towards integrating smart technologies into the field of infrastructure and contributes to strengthening scientific cooperation between Iraqi and international universities.
