The College of Engineering, Department of Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Basra, organized a two-day workshop (October 12 and 14, 2025).
The workshop, presented by Engineer Hussam Al-Qatrani, Chief Engineer/Artificial Intelligence Specialist, introduced students to the fundamentals and applications of artificial intelligence in mechatronics and linked smart technologies to industrial processes within the concepts of Industry 4.0. It included several main topics, including:
*Introduction to industrial artificial intelligence and its applications in mechatronics.
*Predictive maintenance and sensory data analysis using Python.
*Computer vision for detecting industrial defects using YOLO and OpenCV.
*Energy and production forecasting using time series models.
*Introduction to the design of artificial intelligence agents (AI Agents) and their role in intelligent automation.
- Among its outcomes, students were able to build and evaluate practical machine learning models.
-Understanding the mechanisms for linking artificial intelligence to mechatronic systems.
-Motivating students to develop applied projects in the field of industrial artificial intelligence.
