The Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Basrah, participated in the IPIW 2025 workshop, the leading workshop in the Iraqi oil and gas sector, with a presentation titled "Enabling Drilling Operations in Iraq with Artificial Intelligence Technologies." The workshop was organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers – Central Iraq Section, under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Iraq, and with the support of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs – Minister of Oil, Engineer Hayyan Abdul Ghani Al-Sawad, who attended the workshop along with oil industry experts from the Ministry of Oil and executives from foreign companies operating in Iraq, including BP, TotalEnergies, SLB, Halliburton, and many others.

The event was held on October 27-28, 2025, at the Babylon Rotana Hotel – Al-Jadriya, Baghdad, and served as a distinguished platform for exchanging knowledge, innovations, and strategies that contribute to shaping the future of the energy sector in Iraq.
