University of Basra Explores Prospects for Joint Scientific Cooperation with Muscat University in the Sultanate of Oman

The College of Engineering at the University of Basra explored prospects for joint scientific cooperation with the College of Engineering at Muscat University in the Sultanate of Oman. The University of Basra's delegation was headed by Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Falah Al-Abadi, Head of the Mechatronics Engineering Department, and included Assistant Lecturers Yousef Abdul Wahab Khairallah and Abbas Fadhil Majeed. The Muscat University delegation was headed by Dr. Mureed Hussein, Dean of the College of Engineering, and included several faculty members.

This meeting was the culmination of a series of correspondences and previous online meetings between the College of Engineering at the University of Basra and the College of Engineering at Muscat University, aimed at expanding academic and scientific cooperation between the two institutions.

During the meeting, an agreement was reached to activate the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research in both the Republic of Iraq and the Sultanate of Oman, which will contribute to strengthening the institutional partnership between the two universities.

The two parties also agreed to form joint research groups to begin implementing scientific research projects in the fields of mechatronics engineering, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy. The agreement also included organizing joint scientific conferences and workshops, exchanging academic visits, and hosting students from both universities in summer school programs and training courses.

This collaboration comes as part of the University of Basra's efforts to solidify its international academic presence and enhance its scientific engagement with regional and international universities.
