The College of Engineering at the University of Basrah announces the MechaTech Summer School for 2026

The College of Engineering at the University of Basrah, represented by the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, announces a free MechaTech Summer School for first- and second-year students.

This intensive program will begin on Sunday, July 5, 2026, and will run for a full month, with five days of training per week and five hours per day.

The summer school is a practical and applied program designed to bridge the gap between theoretical studies and real-world application in the job market. The program focuses on empowering students to build integrated mechatronics systems, enhancing their self-learning and teamwork skills, and identifying outstanding students to participate in future competitions, entrepreneurial projects, and consulting opportunities. The training curriculum comprises six main modules distributed throughout the program:

1. Module 1: Embedded Systems and Arduino

2. Module 2: Robotics and Drones

3. Module 3: Programmable Logic Controllers and Industrial Automation

4. Module 4: Artificial Intelligence for Mechatronics

5. Module 5: Mechanical Design and 3D Printing

6. Module 6: Soft Skills and Professional Development.

Students will be divided into teams to complete real-world projects ranging from easy to intermediate to advanced levels. Competitions will also be held to select the best project, the fastest robot, the best design, and the most innovative new idea.

The program will include potential visits to industrial laboratories, power plants, and automation and communications companies. There will also be panel discussions and meetings with engineers from the job market, distinguished researchers, and successful graduates. Additional activities will include a mini-hackathon and a Mechatronics Expo to showcase the projects to companies and government agencies.
