Dr. Ethar Hisham Khalil, a faculty member in the Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Basrah, participated as a member of the judging panel for the Middle East and North Africa PhD student research competition, organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). The competition was held online from April 14-15, 2026.

The competition involved evaluating scientific research submitted by PhD students from various universities and countries in the Middle East and North Africa region, according to rigorous scientific criteria that reflect the quality of the research, innovation, and the significance of the results.

Dr. Ethar Hisham Khalil's selection as a member of the judging panel is a recognition of his scientific and academic expertise in the field of petroleum and gas engineering. This strengthens the presence of the University of Basrah and the College of Engineering in international scientific forums and affirms the standing of its faculty members and their contributions to supporting and developing scientific research.
