University of Basra Announces Official Launch of "Summer School" Initiative at the College of Engineering

On Sunday, July 5, 2026, the College of Engineering at the University of Basra officially launched its comprehensive "Summer School" initiative. Organized and sponsored by the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, the initiative aims to develop students' practical and technical skills and keep pace with rapid technological advancements.

The school was officially opened by the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Mufeed Turki Rashid, accompanied by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Munir Abdul Jalil Ismail, and in the presence of the Head of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, along with a group of faculty members, engineers, staff, and students participating in the training program.

The initiative will run for a full month, providing intensive and high-quality training that reflects the college's vision of bridging the gap between academic learning and practical, field-based experience. Immediately after the opening ceremony, the students and trainers began the activities of the first training day, amidst a highly interactive and enthusiastic atmosphere that reflects the seriousness of the participants and their desire to achieve the maximum possible benefit in the fields of mechatronics, automation and smart systems, which enhances their readiness for the labor market and supports scientific innovation within the University of Basra.
