The College of Engineering at the University of Basra explores avenues for joint cooperation with the General Company for Electricity Distribution in the South, Basra Branch.

The Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Mufeed Turki Rashid, met with the Director of the Basra Electricity Distribution Branch, Engineer Maitham Lazem Majeed, to discuss prospects for joint cooperation and coordination between the two parties. The meeting took place during a visit by the Dean to the branch headquarters.

The discussions focused on ways to develop engineering and scientific cooperation and exchange expertise and knowledge between the engineering staff at the Basra Electricity Distribution Branch and the faculty and students of the College of Engineering, thereby enhancing the practical application of engineering knowledge.

The two sides also discussed the possibility of holding specialized training courses in the field of smart metering systems, as well as exploring the topic of solar energy and its applications. They also reviewed several future projects that could be the subject of joint cooperation.

The Dean of the College of Engineering commended the efforts of the engineering staff at the Basra Electricity Distribution Branch, praising their technical and engineering work that contributes to serving the governorate and developing the energy sector.

Both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination and exchange of expertise, and expanding areas of cooperation between the College of Engineering and the Basra Electricity Distribution Branch, in order to contribute to developing engineering skills, linking the academic aspect with practical applications, and benefiting from scientific and technical expertise in implementing future projects.
