A session for the updated Teaching Competence Assessment in Engineering Sciences was held at the University of Basrah’s Continuing Education Center (Bab Al-Zubair Colleges Complex). The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Saleh Issa Khasaf, with committee members Prof. Dr. Sanaa Abdul-Zahra, Prof. Dr. Amal Mahdi Jabr, Prof. Dr. Ali Ahmed Abed, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Odai Bashir Issa. The event aimed to assess new faculty applicants from both public and private colleges in Basrah Governorate. Each applicant delivered a specialized engineering lecture demonstrating their academic proficiency and instructional delivery methods, alongside other criteria established by the Ministry of Higher Education in the committee's official evaluation form.

Following the lectures, the committee chair and members discussed the presentation style with each applicant, offering guidance on performance improvement and skill development. Some applicants successfully passed the assessment, while others were granted a second attempt—following a timeframe determined by the scientific, educational, and psychological committee—to refine their skills based on the scores awarded in accordance with the evaluation form's guidelines.
