The Department of Chemical Engineering held an awareness seminar titled "Breast Cancer: Awareness, Early Detection, and the Role of Modern Engineering Technologies in Diagnosis and Treatment." The event aimed to promote health awareness among female students and highlight the importance of early detection in improving the prospects for successful treatment and recovery.
The seminar covered various educational and scientific topics, including an overview of breast cancer, key risk factors, the importance of breast self-examination, and how to identify changes that warrant a medical consultation. It was also emphasized that self-examination does not replace regular medical check-ups or diagnostic imaging.
Furthermore, the seminar shed light on the role of modern engineering technologies and advanced materials in enhancing detection, diagnostic, and treatment methods. This includes medical imaging technologies, the application of artificial intelligence in analyzing medical images, and the use of nanomaterials to develop more precise and efficient diagnostic and therapeutic tools.
The seminar also addressed the significance of scientific research and the integration of medical and engineering disciplines to innovate technical solutions that improve the quality of healthcare. It specifically highlighted the role of chemical engineers in developing the advanced materials and modern technologies utilized within the medical field. The seminar concluded by emphasizing the importance of promoting health literacy among female students, correcting misconceptions regarding breast cancer, and encouraging early detection and medical consultation whenever any abnormal changes are observed—all of which contribute to enhancing community awareness and fostering a culture of prevention and personal health responsibility.
