The College of Engineering at the University of Basrah held a video conference meeting with Schlumberger Oil Company, one of the licensing companies operating in Basrah, to discuss the issue of training students during the summer vacation. Dr. Haider Maath Mohammad, Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, said that the meeting he had with Mr. Ahmed Aktham, the company's recruitment director, and Mr. Muhammad Latif, was to discuss the mechanism of training students at Schlumberger Oil Company during the summer vacation as part of the graduation requirements for students. The Assistant Dean confirmed that it was agreed with the company on the details of the training program, in addition to selecting the distinguished among them to work in the company after graduation especially since Schlumberger will be fully aware of the skills and capabilities of the trainees without the need to train them or re-test them later.. On his part, Mr. Ahmed Aktham, the company’s recruitment manager, expressed his sincere thanks to the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah for their cooperation and providing them with qualified engineers and the company’s willingness to provide jobs to trainees in addition to give jobs to the first three graduates on the Petroleum Engineering Department.
