The General Company for Southern Electricity Distribution held an educational symposium at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah on (rationalization of electrical energy consumption). The aim of the symposium was to spread the culture of electrical conservation among students and university cadres.
The symposium included two axes. The first axis explained how to work in the culture of electrical rationalization, in addition to clarifying the details of the new pricing for electricity wages and the methods of calculating the new pricing.
Where the Director of Public Company Relations and Media, Amin Mohieldin Muhanna, stated that the most important detail of the seminar is to clarify and explain the new pricing mathematically and in numbers, which was adopted by the Ministry of Electricity, taking into account those with limited income, and indicated the importance of paying the accumulated tax wages on citizens for fear of the difficulty of not paying them because of its importance in Purchasing station fuel and maintaining the electrical network on an ongoing basis, as well as paying employees’ salaries
While the second axis included the topic of renewable energy, where the engineer "Sarah Alaa" stressed the importance of finding new alternatives to electrical energy in Iraq, especially since it has ingredients that help to exploit such type of energies, including solar energy, which is almost available throughout the year, calling on government institutions to adopt such a type of energy. Energy to provide their headquarters with solar energy to be a successful and complementary alternative to the electric power system.
