The Consulting Office at the College of Engineering, University of Basrah, conducted a development course entitled (Operation and maintenance requirements for water treatment and desalination plants) in cooperation with the Basra Water Directorate and the Performance Improvement and Good Governance Program in Iraq - DIA integration and the sponsorship of the US Agency for International Development USAID, where the staff working in the Basra Water Directorate were hosted

During which technical cadres were trained and developed in the field of operation and management of water projects in Basrah Governorate
A workshop was also held, during which senior doctors specialized in the field of public health and society were hosted, highlighting the impact of water and its quality on the health and safety of users.
Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul-Razzaq Jassem stated that the aim of this course is to provide specialized cadres in the management and operation of the stations, and the formation of desalination plants by the method of reverse osmosis (RO) is the main source of drinking water in Basrah Governorate. The cadres should have technical and operational experience in the chemical, mechanical and electrical fields for the purpose of operating and maintaining these stations in a manner that ensures their safety and continuity of work.
