Master's thesis at the University of Basrah looking at (Nonlinear static analysis "lateral thrust analysis" of reinforced concrete building)

A master's thesis at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah examined (static nonlinear analysis "lateral thrust analysis" of reinforced concrete building) by student Muhannad Abd al-Hussein Oklah.

The thesis dealt with the fact that during its design life the structure can be exposed to three levels of earthquake, the first of which is the investment earthquake, which is expected to occur every 100 years, the second is the design earthquake, which is expected to occur every 475 years, and the third is the greatest earthquake, which is expected to occur every 2475 years.

The structure must be serviceable when exposed to the service earthquake, and the damages must be detectable and can be repaired when the structure is exposed to the design earthquake.

Four types of buildings were considered in the analysis (1) the regular building in plan and height (2) the building that is regular in height and irregular in the plan

(3) Regular building, planned and irregular in height (4) A building with irregular height and plan

The thesis concluded that when analyzing buildings for two earthquake intensity, the first earthquake is the design earthquake and the second is the maximum earthquake

The results showed that the design earthquake can be safely resisted with little post-elastic behavior and therefore needs a slight rehabilitation after the earthquake. Life safety This means that the building is still safe against collapse, but it needs more rehabilitation after the earthquake.
