University of Basrah organizes a symposium on (measuring levels of radioactive contamination with depleted and natural uranium)

The College of Engineering at the University of Basrah organized a scientific symposium on measuring levels of radioactive contamination with depleted and natural uranium

The symposium included a lecture delivered by Dr. Saad Matti Boutros / Department of Petroleum Engineering, during which he dealt with the types of pollution, including soil pollution, air pollution, water pollution and other types of pollution that harm humanity and the sources and levels of this pollution. The volatilization of dust particles, the combustion of oil and its derivatives, the combustion of gases, the combustion of vehicle fuels, the smoke resulting from the burning of waste and dust storms.

A questionnaire was also presented about the amount of radioactive pollution for the year 2002-2005 in Iraq and it was compared with the pollution levels for the year 2018. The aim of holding the symposium was to provide some solutions, including increasing the green area, planting trees and chemical, physical and biological solutions to reduce pollution.
