A master's thesis at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah discussed the integration of fuzzy logic methods and the multi-criteria decision model for selecting appropriate sites for a wastewater treatment plant in Basra Governorate.
The thesis presented by student Firas Abbas Laftah dealt with a study on the compatibility of the site of the Hamdan sewage treatment plant with the environment, as well as finding new proposed sites for establishing other plants in the city of Basra through the use of Fuzzy Logic and the Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Model (MCDM). With geographic information systems (GIS). In the modeling phase of this study. 10 criteria in 3 main categories were developed to evaluate suitable sites for wastewater treatment plants
The letter concluded that the Hamdan station is considered unusable in terms of location and has negative impacts on human health and the general environment. It also proposed another, more suitable location, 17 km away from the previous location towards the south, and compatible with environmental, economic and social standards.
