The Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Center for Educational Guidance and Mental Health, held an intellectual educational symposium entitled The danger of the culture of triviality and its role in destroying society. The symposium presented by the lecturer at the College of Engineering, Dr. Ehsan Nadhum Al-Jazairi, discussed several topics The first axis: What is meant by the culture of triviality, during which triviality was defined? The second axis: What are the manifestations of the culture of triviality, which is listening to quick, superficial information and not paying attention to serious, focused information, following famous lowlifes and turning away from those with intellectual, scientific and cultural experience and competencies, wasting time on means and programs of communication to the point of addiction and excessiveness, the material presented by the media these days is a challenge to those who have no reason to express their opinion on various matters, paying attention to decorations, appearances, and crusts. As for the third axis, what are the dangers and effects of the culture of triviality: enabling the trivial to shape public opinion, killing creativity and creators, flattening culture and thought, declining values and morals and mocking them, Numbing society away from crucial and pivotal issues, killing seriousness In addition to presenting ways to resist the culture of triviality It is to escalate the spirit of seriousness, disgrace the culture of triviality and promote its ugliness, restore things to their proper perspective and highlight good role models in society, stop promoting, passing on and supporting the triviality of the culture.
