A joint scientific research by a lecturer from the College of Engineering was published in a reputable international journal

Dr. Falah Asi Abboud and Eng. Hussam Hakim, in cooperation with a lecturer from the University of Maysan, Dr. Ahmed Kazem Al-Sharaa, published in the International Journal of Thermal Fluids Q1. The research included a study of the effect of the solar chimney on the room in the presence and absence of a phase change material in the city of Basra, Iraq, theoretically and experimentally. For numerical and theoretical analysis, the simulation was conducted using the ANSYS - Fluent 2021/R2 program. Experimentally, the best results obtained from the numerical simulation were used in the design to build the device and record data. The effect of many factors and variables was studied, such as the angles of inclination of the solar chimney, the air gap, adding a PCM basin to the solar chimney with different thicknesses, the temperature of the heat-absorbing plate, the air change rate per hour (ACH) in the presence and absence of PCM, and the effect of liquid melting.
