The College of Engineering at the University of Basrah held an engineering workshop titled “Artificial Intelligence in the Oil and Gas Sector,” organized by the Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering. This workshop aligns with the college’s commitment to supporting modern scientific and technological activities and linking them to labor market demands and global developments in the oil field.

The workshop, supervised by Assistant Lecturer Rawan Saleh Ismail, addressed important scientific topics related to the applications of artificial intelligence in the oil industry. It explored the role of AI in developing exploration and production processes, improving performance efficiency and decision-making, as well as reducing risks and enhancing operational safety.

The workshop included explanations of the most prominent modern technologies in this field, such as big data analytics, intelligent modeling, and predicting technical problems before they occur. These technologies contribute to improving the quality of work in oil and gas projects.
