The College of Engineering at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Al-Bawsala Cultural Team and Injaz Company, held a workshop on the job market on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. The workshop, titled "The Job Market," took place in the Martyr Asaad Hall at the college's lecture hall complex and was attended by over 100 students and graduates.

The workshop, presented by trainer Mohammed Zaid, aimed to enhance students' readiness, particularly recent graduates, for the transition from academia to professional life. It provided them with essential knowledge and skills to increase their chances of securing suitable employment and enabling them to compete effectively in the job market.

The workshop covered several important topics, including an overview of the job market and its key changes, the required professional and personal skills and how to develop them, techniques for creating a professional resume and a LinkedIn profile, job search strategies, building professional relationships, and preparing for and handling job interviews professionally.

The workshop also addressed how to leverage artificial intelligence technologies in professional development and create a practical plan to help students and graduates launch their careers after graduation.

The workshop featured interactive presentations, practical exercises, and real-world case studies, along with open discussion sessions that allowed participants to ask questions and discuss the most significant challenges they might face at the beginning of their careers, generating considerable engagement from the attendees.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the importance of continuous skills development and gaining practical experience was emphasized, aligning with the evolving demands of the job market and contributing to enhancing students' and graduates' opportunities to build successful career paths.
