The College of Engineering at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Directorate of Civil Defense in Basrah, held a seminar on (occupational safety and a safe university environment and achieving safety standards in laboratories and educational spaces)

The objective of the seminar is to reduce occupational risks and accidents,

The lecturer, Haider Jaber Odeh, one of the employees of the Civil Defense Division, stated that the seminar was done in response to the directives of His Excellency the Minister and the directives of the Chancellor of the University of Basrah, and the Ministry wrote in this regard, which urges educational institutions to take the necessary steps to reduce accidents and secure laboratories and classrooms in order to preserve the human and material environment of the institution. In addition to teaching employees how to use firefighters and how to evacuate buildings in the event of a fire

The types of potential accidents and ways to deal with and control them were reviewed.

The seminar was attended by the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Ramzy Salim Ali, the administrative assistant, heads of scientific and teaching departments, laboratory officials, employees of the maintenance and follow-up division, and the Civil Defense Unit.
