A master's thesis at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah discussing (the study of the factors affecting the stability and vibrations of marine propulsion systems)

The thesis presented by the student Aqil Abdel Hussein Aboud dealt with a study of torsional, lateral and longitudinal vibrations and their impact on ships and the propulsion system that seriously threaten the reliability and safety of the ship. The finite element method was created to study different types of vibrations with different rotational speeds. In this work, vibrations are studied, analyzed and modeled with simulation of lateral and torsional vibration states using

Matlab.

The thesis aims to study the factors affecting the stability and vibrations of propulsion systems.

The thesis concluded that the optimal design of the diameter was performed using the above programs as the working tools used, and the calculations were focused on making the comparison to obtain all the other effective and optimal information for the system such as diameter, stiffness, unbalanced double moments, and unbalanced mass, and then presenting the results of this analysis to help predict with problems
