A scientific visit for students of the College of Engineering to Basrah Train Station

The students of the fourth stage / (morning and evening studies) in the Department of Architectural Engineering at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah and within the lesson (design of interior spaces), accompanied by the lesson staff, made a scientific visit to the Basrah train station. The vitality and its locational and appearance characteristics, with a focus on the aspects related to the main purpose of the visit, which is to study the state of the interior space of the passenger reservation and waiting hall and its vicinity, and get acquainted directly with the nature of its work through meeting technicians and specialists in the work of the station. The virtual passenger movement mechanism and their locations in the outer and inner space were also monitored, comparing it to the actual available inside the station.

During the visit, a number of design problems and obstacles were explored and discussed in the field, and instructions were given to the students in this regard as an integrated plan of action towards the students making the appropriate architectural designs to rehabilitate the current reservation hall with the possibility of adding an extension space between it and the sidewalk as a place for travelers to wait.

On the sidelines of the visit, he met with a number of the station’s staff and officials, starting with the assistant director of the railways in the southern region, Mr. Engineer (Abdul Rasoul Salman), the director of the Basra train station and the station superintendent, down to some employees and security officials, with whom meetings and discussions were held about the reality of the station and ways to advance It is in line with its importance to the governorate as well as to the Basra community, while they all showed a good reception.
