I discussed a PhD thesis at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah (Foggy Slip Control System for Suspension Systems)
The thesis presented by the student Atheel Kazem Abdel-Zahra dealt with the study of the responses of the complete car model with eight degrees of freedom, where the riding performance of the vehicle is evaluated in general by designing a strong and effective control unit under the influence of different road conditions
Three types of powerful controllers are designed which are fuzzy sliding mode control with PID, soft-slide mode control using fuzzy state estimator with PID controller, and super twisty sliding mode control scheme with PID
The thesis aims to reduce unwanted vibrations and oscillations in vehicles because they cause inconvenience to vehicle occupants and may lead to vehicle disruption.
The thesis concluded that the best proposed method that was chosen showed a high quality in reducing vehicle vibration when used with a control unit of the FOPID type, which gave more efficient results. A new scheme was developed using the monitor and excellent results were obtained.
