The College of Engineering at the University of Basrah organizes an introductory and awareness lecture on the dangers of mines

The College of Engineering at the University of Basrah organized a scientific and introductory symposium on the dangers of mines in the presence of the faculty’s staff. The symposium included a lecture given by the human rights defender Walid Khaled Fares, head of the Awareness and Victims Assistance Division at the Mine Affairs Region Center in the southern region. The symposium aims to educate the community in general and students and professors of the College of Engineering in particular with regard to pollution areas in Basra Governorate and how to deal with these pollutants if they are discovered during their visits to those areas in the field. In his lecture, Fares emphasized some guidelines for how to deal with these pollutants, as he mentioned the types of pollutants that exist, such as mines, unexploded and cluster projectiles and their forms, in addition to some indications that these areas are contaminated, such as barbed wire, war remnants and battered military vehicles. The aim of the symposium is to reduce pollution and reduce the number of victims and injuries, and for the safety of people.
