University of Basrah holds a workshop entitled (Development of architectural study curricula to accommodate developments in digital architecture)

Workshop (Developing Architectural Study Curricula to Accommodate Developments in Digital Architecture)

In the presence of a number of representatives from other universities, Assistant Professor Dr. Salah El-Din Yassin Babir from Erbil University, Assistant Professor Dr. Sahar Basil Al-Qaisi from Koya University, Dr. Kamel Yasser Hussein from Dhi Qar University, Dr. Haider Naji Attia, from the University of Karbala, Dr. Samaan Majid Yas, from the University of Diyala

The workshop included two main themes .The first axis represented the definition of the architectural curricula and the proposed development idea through a lecture delivered by the Dr Tahsin Ali Majeed, entitled “Developing Architectural Engineering Curricula”, in addition to a lecture by the teacher Dr. Zuhair Abdel Azim Nassar from the College of Urban Planning at the University of Kufa on digital architecture design and the future of education and the science of teaching architecture, and a lecture by the teacher Dr. Mustafa Walid Hashem Al-Ani about the architectural design studio. The second axis is represented by the presentation of a number One of the digital applications of architecture and its definition.

Including a lecture by the teacher Dr. Ammar Jassim Dakhil on the use of BIM in architectural education, a lecture by the assistant teacher Zainab Abdel Karim on the impact of digital technologies in documenting and studying historical buildings, and a lecture by the teacher Zahra Faleh Mohsen on the use of the Crassover program in architectural design.

The workshop aims to introduce the rapid developments in computer applications for architectural work at various levels of that work from design, implementation, research and evaluation, and put forward a proposal or the idea of ​​developing the curricula currently approved in the departments of architecture in Iraqi universities towards absorbing such developments in the form of qualitative additions as new or modern study materials The vocabulary of some approved subjects, in a way that ensures that the graduate possesses a basic information base and general knowledge about that field.

The workshop also came out with several recommendations, including the need to give the topic of developing curricula for architectural study towards absorbing the requirements of digital architecture and familiarity with its applications of great importance by all concerned parties, especially the scientific departments of architecture in Iraqi universities and the educational institutions associated with these departments, such as colleges and universities.
